L-Lysine essential amino acid by Thorne Research, is an important component of collagen and is found in high concentrations in muscle and bone tissues. Maintaining a proper balance of lysine and arginine may have a positive effect on the immune system.

It may be useful as nutritional supportive therapy for menstrual pain, migraine headache, and to help alleviate the symptomatic effects of herpes simplex infection. L-Lysine decreases calcium loss in the urine and therefore may be helpful in preventing osteoporosis. It can also be useful in counteracting the effects of lead toxicity.
